Food was expense for the portions, but very good. Service, well it is pretty much self-serve, and cash only. They do deliver to your table once ordered. It sits next to a dock, only outdoor seating. Tables are way to close together. Could not even get into/down one bench. I kicked a women already seated next to me trying to get down the bench.
Had a great lunch on the way to the Shore. Very dog friendly & kid friendly. Everything we ate was great. Nice view. Felt like a daycation. Tuna bites had a little spice. Lobster quesadilla was really good. Fish and chips were a classic. Chicken fingers were also good. Free parking on Sundays. Off the beaten path.
I ordered the lobster roll and a side of corn. The lobster roll was LOADED with lobster and it was delicious! The sides of chips and cole slaw were a nice bonus! The corn was less than optimal. I guess I am spoiled with corn right off of the farm but I wish I passed on ordering this side. Otherwise, the meal was good!
The Boondocks is a New England style Seafood shack right in the heart of Central Jersey. I like the food here a lot and have never had a bad meal. The one drawback is since this place came here it's incredibly thought to park. Red Bank was my stomping grounds back in the day; I never remember working so hard to find a spot in Marine Park before. Plan ahead and get here early. The servers all seem very busy but you order at the window and they just drop it off to you. Ambiance is ultra casual so dress to make a mess...
